Bill Nelson passed away Saturday morning. never heard of him, you'll probably say. He was a cool old man with a sparkle in his eyes that lived a long life. He was a painter by trade who gigged on weekends for years and years to support his family.
I guess his claim to fame was he played piano with Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys for awhile.
Before he and his wife, Geneva raised a family of 2 boys and 2 girls (the youngest daughter is my wife Kathy) he served in the United States Merchant Marine during World War II. The injuries he received in the war ended his guitar career, so he switched to piano and played for the rest of his life.
